An old cotton shirt… and you can have a pretty and stylish nightgown. The tricky part of this nightgown is the back. It has to be a little longer than the front fabric, so it will reach the front fabric, when you’ll gather the two fabrics.
Put on it a little decoration and it’s even more stylish.
Happy sewing!
As always, I am delighted to read your comments!
Material:
- Front: 1 trapeze fabric dimension: 3″ x 4.5″ x 4.5″ x 4″ (8cm x 11cm x 11cm x 12cm) – I used an old shirt.
- Top front: 3″ x 2″ (8cm x 5cm)
- Back: 2 rectangles 5″ x 2″ (1″cm x 5cm)
- 17″ ( 43cm) ribbon
Phase 1:
- Fold the Top front fabric into 2. Draw a point 2 marks at 1/2″ ((1.5cm) from each side on the top. Then draw one mark on each side of the fabric at 1″ (2cm).
- Cut the fabric from one point to the other.
- Sew a hem on each sides of the little triangles. No need to sew on the top of the triangles, they will be attached to ribbons.
Phase 2:
- Sew the 2 top fabric together
- Sew the 2 back fabric together up to 2.5″ from the top (6cm)
- Sew a hem on each internal sides of the back fabric.
Phase 3:
- Sew the back and the front fabric together. Then sew a hem on the top of the back fabric, so it matches with the front.
- Sew a hem on the botom of the nightgown.
Phase 4:
- Sew the ribbon all arround the back of the nightgown
- Sew the sleeves. First try the nightgown on the doll, pin the sleeves and then sew them.
- Sew a sew on snap on the back to close the nightgown
- I added 2 little buttons on the front.
The night gown is ready! Good night!
Here is another model I made using the same pattern: (using also an old shirt)
