I wanted to sew a dress with a train for a long time. I had to figure out an easy way to sew the train and still have a beautiful dress. I am very happy with the result and this dress is easy to sew that you’ll want to sew it again and again. I used a light satin fabric that does not fray (well… not much at least).
Happy sewing!

Miss b couture on your facebook page for this dress you have written your last creation are you not making clothes for dolls on this website anymore or did you mean your latest creation like your newest one
Oh I meant latest or newest… Thanksfor telling me! I don(t know if I can correct it…
I love the Purple long dress with train, but I don’t understand Step 1. Can anyone explain to me? Thanks
Hi Rusty,
You can click on picture to see them bigger. For step one, take the bottom fabric and fold it into two. Then put a pin on top on the folded side. Then cut in diagonale from that pin to the opposite corner. The purpose is to build the train.
You will end up with a trapezoid.
I hope it helped.
Happy sewing!
Miss B.
Thank you, I understand it now.
Anytime!
I hope it’ll work out. If you can show the result, i’d love to see it
This dress looks so awesome! My BFF collects Barbies and I would love to make it for her! Thanks!
Thank you, this dress is one of my favorite. And it is one of the easiest dress to sew for Barbie. You can try it using any kind of fabric, it will look good.
Happy sewing!

Wow, this is beautiful! Miss B, do you know how to make Saris for my Indian barbie doll? If you have any ideas on how to sew one can you please make a tutorial for it. Thank you. Lots of Love!
I love this dress! However, I’m not sure how to make the breast pleat. How do I fold it? inward or outward?
It will be inward. So you can’t see them.
The easiest way would be to put the top fabric on the doll backside and then put a pin under each breast. The fabric has ti fit the doll, and you should be able to close it on the back.
Then sew following the pins.
Hope it helps,
Miss B
Thank you so much for posting this! My daughter just made the purple dress with train for our friend’s 3 year old (who just got her first two Barbies) and it turned out great. Simple yet elegant. “Micro-sewing” is really fun. Fun use of our scrap fabrics and a good way to while away winter eves.
That one is just one of my favorite. I did it in so many colors and fabric. Even with a left over from curtains! and it became a wedding dress !
I did a few for my daughters friends for their birthday, it’s easy and has a lot of success!
My daughter calls it prom dress!
Thanks for coming to my blog!
Miss B
Sorry, I’m not quite clear on Step 1. Do you fold it in half the 19″ way, or the 9″ way? So should the corner you’re cutting it to be the 9″ long side or the 19″ long side? Just want to make sure before I start. Thanks!
I am not really sure what you’re asking?
Fold the biggest fabric and cut from the corner to form the train of the dress. I guess if you try it, and pin instead of cutting, you’ll find which way to do it.
Happy sewing,
Miss B
