I have always wanted to sew this very mythic dress from the movie Pretty Woman. When I saw that fabric at the store, I knew I had to try. And here it is! I quite like the result. The fabric is is very fluid almost like fabrics that are used to sew swim suits. As a result, it is very hard to sew, I had to sew very slowly and precisely. There are no breast gathers, the dress is ample and adjusts to the doll by itself.
This is a very easy dress to sew, the belt makes all the difference!
Happy sewing!
Material:
- Bottom of the dress: 9” x 5” (23cm x 13cm)
- Top front: 3 ½” x 3 ½” (9cm x 9cm)
- Top back: 2 fabrics: 2” x 3 ½” (5cm x 9cm)
- 3 sew on snaps (1 for the belt)
- Belt: 5” x 1” (13cm x 2.5cm) of faux brown leather
Step 1
- Sew the top front and back fabrics together on the shoulders
- Sew a hem on the back and on the collar
- Sew the hem around the sleeves 1” (2.5cm) on each side

Step 2
- Sew a hem on the bottom fabric
- Sew the top and bottom fabrics together
- Sew the dress on the back up to 4” (10cm) from the bottom
- Sew a hem on the rest

Step 3
- Sew the 2 sew on snaps
- Make the belt by sewing a sew on snap on it

I just love it
Thank you Lyndsey
NICE!
Thanks Chris!
So pretty. I’m gonna try this one.
Thanks Charmaine!
I really like the details; I think I will make one for myself. – SM

Hi Miss B Couture

Thank you again for the patterns – not sure which one to do next but my grandaughter has asked for swimming togs or a bikini so I might have to use the lingerie patterns.
Wow this is beautiful! Your grandaughter must have been really happy to get this outfit!
I love the fabric.
I tried a one piece siwsuit once, it was pretty well done, but i don’t really see how to explain it simply. It’s quite complicated.
I would definitely use the pattern for the underwear and to a two piece swimsuit
Please continue to share the pictures, this my great pleasure of the day to get to see them after work!
Miss B.
Wow! This dress is so cute! It’s gonna look great on my doll!
I’d love to see a picture. If you have a flickr account, please send over a link once it’s done

Hi,
It’s beaultiful !!! Do you hand stitch it or machine sew it ??
I think it is so small that it would be easier to do it by hand !!
Cheers,
Pat.

I just happened upon your site. It is a great service you provide by allowing us to use your knowledge. I just found this fabric myself at my local Joann’s. I am going to try this dress and hat too. Thank you.
I would like to have you email me with permission to print you Barbie
patterns. When my daughter was little I made Barbie clothes for my
Barbie I had from the 60′s and she destroyed them.(my fault).
Hi Jeri
What do you mean by printing?
Miss B
I would like your permission to print out your dress patterns. I don’t have Face Book
There is no dress pattern, it is only tutorials that you can follow online. No need to have facebook to follow the patterns.
Could you add my email address to yours and send me all the Barbie Doll dresses, etc so I don’t have to keep
going into your website.
I don’t really understand your request. You can follow me on facebook if you like.
I want to print them off the computer
Can you just try to print the page?

I’m definitely going to try this! I called one of my Barbies ‘Julia’ after seeing Pretty Woman, so I guess I ‘have’ to.
You definitely have to try to sew the dress. It’s very easy. I guess the hard part is to find the right fabric.
Happy sewing!
How do you download the pattern? It’s so beautiful, I have to try this pattern.
Hi Cathy,
I do not have any patterns per say, It’s only tutorials. You have to follow the process online.
Happy sewing!
Miss B
